A Fresh Tide: Welcoming the New Year with Nature in Mind

As another year rolls in, I’ve been thinking about how I want to move through the next twelve months - slower, more intentionally, and more connected to the world around me.
When I started Wandering Wave, it was my way of giving back to nature and hopefully inspiring others to do the same. The turning of the year always feels like a good time to pause, look around, and ask: how can I live in better rhythm with the Earth?
Slowing down does not always come easily for me. I tend to feel overwhelmed by the things I cannot control, especially when the world feels heavy or uncertain. That sense of urgency can make it hard to stay present. This year, I want to work on releasing some of that pressure and focusing on what I can influence. Paying attention to nature, grounding myself in what is real and right in front of me, feels like a great place to start.
For me, that means simple things: spending more time outdoors, reducing waste where I can, and continuing to learn about the wild lives that share our planet.
If you’re setting intentions this year, consider choosing one that also supports the natural world. It doesn’t have to be big or complicated, even small ripples create waves of change.
Ways you can be more connected:

🌿 Spend more time noticing the wildlife in your neighborhood.
🌊 Support local conservation projects or clean-ups.
🐾 Volunteer at a rescue, sanctuary, or environmental nonprofit.
🍃 Swap single-use items for sustainable ones.
The start of a new year isn’t just about personal renewal, it’s a reminder that our well-being and the Earth’s are deeply connected.
Here’s to another year of learning, growing, and caring together. 🌎✨

With the new year ahead, I’d love to hear from you! Is there a topic you’d like to see me explore on my blog? Leave a comment below and share what inspires your curiosity about nature, wildlife, or conservation.
